Dogs of Knox Fund Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization founded in 2016. Our organization is not a rescue but we work closely with the rescue community in moving some of the dogs in our local animal shelter into rescues and/or foster homes until permanent homes are found.

 

The Fund should not be confused with the Dogs of Knox Facebook page which was created years before by another shelter volunteer who currently still maintains the Facebook page. That page has been instrumental in promoting adoption of the shelter dogs and providing pupdates and information about events to benefit the Fund and adoption efforts. We have links on this website to the Dogs of Knox Facebook page and encourage visitors of this website to like and follow the Facebook page to get updates on adoptable shelter dogs, help lost dogs find their way home and learn about adoption and other events.

Though our organization was formed to support the dogs that come into the Knox County Animal Shelter, we are separate from the shelter. The county shelter provides basic vet services, spay/neuter, microchip, and current year license for adopted dogs. Extra-ordinary expenses for sick, injured, or special needs are not included in the county shelter's operational budget. Dogs of Knox Fund Inc. absorbs the cost for these extra-ordinary expenses so that those dogs with extra needs have a chance to be adopted into loving homes.

Dogs of Knox Fund Inc. is funded solely through donations. Our organization is operated by volunteers and we have no overhead (salary, etc.) expenses. 100% of all monetary donations received are used to pay for extra-ordinary and rescue expenses for the dogs at the Knox County Animal Shelter.
